Sims Medieval: Gameplay Tips

Cooking
Kingdom Aspects
Legendary Traits & Their Quests

COOKING - You can cook different meals and use different ingredients if you buy an oven to go with your fireplace.  I think a spit might open more options too but have not tried this.

This is what I do to keep my Sims fed, particularly if I'm playing my Glutton: buy an Oven for your home and a bunch of Barley from the Village Shoppe.  Make 1 Large Barley Loaf and put it in your Sim's inventory.  Whenever your Sim is hungry, click the Barley Loaf in your inventory and "Grab a Plate."  Your Sim can eat off that for days until it runs out and you have to bake more.

I discourage making more food than you need at any one time, because food does spoil.  I've never had one large loaf spoil on me before I finish it, so I don't know if bread lasts longer than meat dishes or not.

ASPECTS - I've been having trouble with my kingdom's aspects: Well-Being, Security, Culture, and Knowledge.

I looked into it and here's the situation: each building you create with RP increases the kingdom's capacity for an aspect (the aspects show when you hover over the spot) up to 12 slots, but does not increase the aspect itself.  Quests increase the aspects themselves.  If you have an exclamation point (!) by a quest, it means that the quest can potentially reward more aspect points than your capacity and you just won't get the extras.

You can also do quests that reduce a particular aspect while raising another.  I suggest looking to see if you can take the hit before going for that kind of quest.

If an aspect is low, you have consequences like brigands causing havoc in your castle (low defense), negative debuffs on your Sims, or slower experience gains.

LEGENDARY TRAITS - Replace your Fatal Flaw with a super-awesome trait by doing certain quests.
  • Seven Mechanical Arts
  • Invasion!
  • The Fisherman’s Challenge
  • The Philosopher’s Stone
  • Fountain of Legend
  • Dragon of [Your Kingdom].
